Special Wine Events for July 4th Weekend

Looking for some wine to celebrate our independence? Check out these events:

Lone Oak Vineyard Estate near Jackson, Michigan will celebrate its First Annual Independence Day Picnic Party on Saturday, July 3, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. It will feature a free outdoor concert by The Swingin’ Sirloins. The Swingin’ Sirloins are the ultimate party band with the cool funk and rhythm and blues sounds to make you want to get up and dance. The band is firmly rooted in the rock roots of famed bass player and vocalist, Billie Lewis. Seating is available inside and out. Picnic plats of pulled pork, baked beans and cole slaw will be available for $10. Appetizers and great estate grown wine will also be available. Lone Oak is located at 8400 Ann Arbor Rd., Grass Lake, Michigan, (517) 522-8167.

For something different try the Wine, Wickets and Wheels event at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center in Fremont. Events Friday through Sunday include the International Golf Croquet Tournament, Supersize Croquet Tournament and a croquet exhibit. Community and family croquet is from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday and Sunday; a car show is from noon to 6:00 PM Saturday; wine tasting is from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Saturday; and a wine auction is scheduled from 5:00 to 10:00 PM. Ticketholders for the auction are treated to wine and hors d'oeuvres. Tickets for the wine tasting are $10 for five tastes.

Closer to home, Vino 100, Promenade West, 3355 Briarfield Blvd, Suite D, Maumee (419) 866-8466, is offering a special price on Glass City Cuvee, their house wine. On Saturday the cost per glass will be $4.
